Aidan Wind, Executive Director
BA Geography, University of Victoria (2004). Aidan is the founder and executive director of Global Reef, a hybrid social venture that creates exceptional transmedia properties to entertain, excite and engage. All projects feature socio-environmental undercurrents that target large mainstream audiences, reach international markets and inspire change. His love of the oceans has taken him throughout the world, both as a captain of various vessels and as a technical scuba diving instructor.
Ian Hinkle, Director of Communications & Media Development
BA Film, University of British Columbia. Ian is a documentary filmmaker who has been chasing important stories since 1992, with an emphasis on social-political and environmental issues. From his directorial debut ‘The Living Coast’ (Director/Cinematographer: Discovery Channel) to ‘Born to the Wind’ (Camera: PBS, ESPN2, 1999) and ‘Long Road North’ (Writer/Director/Producer: 2008), he is a veteran of numerous award-winning adventure projects worldwide. He brings two decades of documentary production experience, from cinematographer and to producer. Ian has a keen eye for personal stories that lead to a deeper understanding of our planet.
Alf Kaech, Director of Business Development
Alf Kaech is co-founder and COO of ETS Avia, an Emission Trading Scheme (ETS) compliance service company. He is a business development professional and entrepreneur and has over 12 years of international experience in aviation, commercial real estate and emission trading. Alf started his career as an Airbus A320 pilot for Swissair servicing all major European destinations. He has deep hands-on experience with both flight operations and the European regulatory environment. After completing his MBA in 2004, he played an important supporting role to the VP of Customer Services in crafting the Power-by-the-Hour Customer Services offering for the new Bombardier CSeries family of commercial aircraft. In 2008, his focus shifted to the increasingly important realm of environmental legislation in an entrepreneurial capacity, with an emphasis on developing and delivering EU ETS compliance solutions for aircraft operators to manage their ETS obligations and providing consultancy services to Bombardier Aerospace. In February 2010, he co-founded ETS Avia to provide global aircraft operators with tools to better manage their ETS compliance requirements in an evolving and complex global regulatory environment.
Graeme McRanor, Writer & Producer
Graeme is a Vancouver-based writer/producer with Global Television, where his responsibilities include conceptualizing image campaigns, long-term brand strategies and other special projects for the network’s numerous markets across Canada. He also works as a freelance writer/producer, has a comedic television series, ‘Model Behavior’, in development and, over the last decade, has worked as a feature arts and entertainment writer for the Postmedia Network and as a writer/video producer for Sun Media. He has sold essays and features to the Globe & Mail and various magazines around the world, and his non-fiction work has been shortlisted for a CBC Literary Award. He has a degree in Radio and Television from Ryerson University in Toronto.
Ashley Hamilton, Social Investment Advisor
Ashley brings a “now-do” attitude to “how to”. She’s a published author and public speaker on corporate responsibility, sustainable investing and human rights; and works with investors on issues such as labour rights, climate change, environmental management and sustainability reporting. She worked with a team of investors to persuade Goldcorp, Canada’s second-largest gold-mining company, to publish a first-ever Human Rights Assessment of its controversial Guatemalan mine. The company has made remarkable progress with its human rights practices since. Ashley is committed to helping investors make money by making the world a better place, and encourages them to become active participants in ensuring their capital is used in responsible and ethical ways.
